YAMASHITA Kinichi

1929-2021. Born on Amami Oshima Island, Kagoshima Prefecture. Japanese folklorist, cultural anthropologist, literature scholar, and professor emeritus at Kagoshima International University. He was a leading scholar of Amami folklore and Yuta studies. Author of “Shamanism of Amami”, “Study of Amami Setsuwa”, and many other books.
