Born in Minamidaito Village in 1935, he entered the Department of Japanese Literature, Faculty of Letters and Science, University of the Ryukyus in 1954, and published his poem “Sad Puzzling Year” in “University of the Ryukyus Literature” in 1956. Graduated from the University of the Ryukyus in 1958 and worked at Naha City Hall. Major books include “Okinawa: Tsuri no Minzokushi (Fishing Ethnography)” (1997), “Okinawa: Umui no Fudo(Topography of the sea)” (2007), “Chaasuga kunu Okinawa (Uchina) – Iretakashi’s Remains” (2010), etc.
